AUDITIONS
Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat will play at SCERA Center for the Arts JANUARY 27 – FEBRUARY 14, 2025 with 10:00am matinees Monday through Friday for school groups and 7:00pm shows for the general public on Monday and Friday evenings.
The one-hour play features 8 featured roles with an expandable ensemble with featured lines, and is cast with all adult actors, although those 16 and older are encouraged to audition if their schedule permits. Auditions will be held on Thursday, December 5 between 6:00-8:00pm at SCERA Center for the Arts, 745 South State, Orem. Auditioners should prepare a one-minute passage from a Dr. Seuss story and bring the character to life with big, playful movements, facial expressions, character voices and gestures. Make sure to match the fun, imaginative tone of the story! Cast members must be available for morning weekday rehearsals 9:30am – 11:30pm and for all fifteen weekday morning matinees and all six evening performances. Rehearsals will run December 12-20, 2024 then break until January 2, 2025. A more detailed schedule will be provided once casting is final.
ABOUT THE SHOW: The National Theatre’s adaptation of Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat is a lively, engaging play, where not a word has been touched or added to Dr. Seuss’ classic, ensuring that anyone who’s read the story will find themselves transported into the world they’ve always imagined. From the moment his tall, red-and-white-striped hat appears around the door, Sally and her brother know that The Cat in the Hat is the funniest, most mischievous cat that they have ever met. With the trickiest of tricks and the craziest of ideas, he is certainly loads of fun. He turns a rainy afternoon into an amazing adventure… but what will mum find when she gets home?
