SCERA YOUTH BALLROOM
SCERA Starz: Intermediate-Level Ballroom
Do you have ballroom basics down and ready to move to the next step? This class will focus on competition-style team ballroom, learning choreography, dance positions and techniques for creating fun routines in Cha Cha, American Swing, Foxtrot, Waltz, Theater Art and more. Students will have several performances at SCERA. Costuming and team apparel is included.
Fall Semester: Sept. 13-Dec. 17
Winter Semester: Jan. 10-May 20
Time: Monday 3-5pm & Tue/Fri 3-4pm
Ages: 14-17 *must register with a partner

Adult Social Ballroom Instruction
Anyone can learn to dance! Come and have a great evening with your dance partner in a fun, low-key environment to find your two left feet and move them in way you didn’t think you could! Cha-Cha and Samba will be taught, so join us for a specific dance or learn both. It’s a great excuse to socialize with friends, family and neighbors and get out of the house for an hour!
Dates: Dec. 4,11,18 (Cha Cha) March 5,12,19 (Samba)
Time: Saturdays 7:30-8:30pm
Ages: 18-99 *Bring a partner, please
Tuition: $15.00 per couple/class, no reservations required
Shawn is an Orem native that has been performing since his days at Vineyard Elementary School. He has been on stage at SCERA several times starring in Seussical the Musical as the Cat in the Hat, Wizard of Oz as Scarecrow, The Big Friendly Giant as the BFG, Plaid Tidings as Jinx and A Year with Frog and Toad as Frog. Shawn is also a sought-after director and choreographer. As a high school sophomore, Shawn took his first ballroom dance class and fell in love with it! That started him on a path that would include ballroom dance in his life. Shawn danced for Mountain View High School Ballroom for 3 years, for Utah Valley University Summer Ballroom Team, and was the teacher/coach for Orem High School Ballroom for 5 years. Shawn feels that ballroom dance is great for young people because it can teach them confidence, social skills and coordination.
TO REGISTER: Registration for Fall 2010/Winter 2011 will begin on Monday, August 16, 2010. Pick up a registration form at the SCERA Center for the Arts, 745 South State, Orem, open 10am-6pm weekdays or Saturdays from 12Noon-6pm, call (801) 225-ARTS to register by phone, or Download & Print Fall 2010-Winter 2011 Registration Form. Bring the completed form and full payment to the main office of the SCERA Center for the Arts. There is a $15 cancellation fee per class.
