Established writing coaches Justin Kennington, Stephen Gashler and Steven Dowdle teach an innovative approach to playwriting for those interested in completing an original one act play. Students will learn the process and techniques of good writing in general and theatre in particular. Participants will leave with a polished piece, several ideas for other plays, and the knowledge of how to develop those ideas into a great theatre script. For those who want to learn how to put "play" back into playwriting...this course is for you…full of unforgettable laughter and learning. Student plays using these techniques have garnered major awards at the Utah Thespians Playwriting Contest, Utah Shakespearean Festival’s Youth Playwriting Competition and the National Scholastic Awards.
TO REGISTER: Registration for summer will begin on Tuesday, April 6, 2010. Pick up a registration form at the SCERA Center for the Arts, 745 South State, Orem, open 10am-6pm weekdays or Saturdays from 12Noon-6pm, call (801) 225-ARTS or Download Summer 2010 Registration Form. Bring the completed form and full payment to the main office of the SCERA Center for the Arts. There is a $15 cancellation fee per class.
